Shilpa Shetty in ‘Vogue’ - Misses out performance at IPL2 closing ceremony

It was our bad luck not to see Shilpa Shetty performing at IPL season 2 closing night where she was supposed to perform with Katrina Kaif and Akon.

Shilpa says, “I was just not prepared. It was an international platform, not some village nautanki. I had to be fully ready. And I just didn’t get time to rehearse. So I regretfully had to say no. But I’d rather not give anything less than my best when I’m representing my country.”

However Shilpa who is the co-owner of Rajasthan Royals says, “So what if my team wasn’t playing. I think I’m sporting enough to enjoy the game as just a part of the audience.”

Shilpa’s busy 'doing nothing'

She’s all but disappeared from the big screen. Last year, the beauty’s only appearance was in a song with John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan in Dostana, and this year doesn’t seem to be any different.

“I have ventured into a lot of things like cricket, yoga DVDs, spas, but films will be my first love. However, the fact remains that I haven’t been offered any interesting roles. The kind of work that I would like to do now or fit into is hard to come by. And the choices that are in front of me aren’t tempting enough,” admits Shilpa matter-of-factly.
Added to her woes is the arrival of a new crop of actresses who ensure that the senior lot find fewer roles coming their way. “I have done everything from comedy and action to serious films, but for how long can one keep doing the same thing? There’s something called screen-age! As a producer I understand why others choose the new crop,” she admits.

But it’s always been that for the Bollywood hottie and candidly she continues, “I could take up Big Brother, which proved to be a turning point in my life, only because I wasn’t busy with any other project. That’s the reason I never question anything. But look, I have yet carved a niche for myself without films.”

So, at the moment, Shilpa’s busy “doing nothing” in London. She’s waiting for the recession to end before she dons the producer’s hat in Bollywood. “I needed a break after the IPL,” she says, denying that she’s licking her wounds after her team’s dismal loss in the Twenty20 tournament. “Everyone wants to win, anyone who says they don’t — is lying,” says the actress. “Next season, I’ll pray harder.”

Katrina Kaif - were bounced back from the nightclub

Currently, Katrina Kaif and John Abraham are in US shooting for director Kabir Khan’s film ‘New York’. It so happened that during the shoot, one of the crew members threw a party at a nightclub and invited Katrina kaif, John and the director to the party. However, when John and Katrina, along with Kabir Khan, got to the club, they were denied entry because they were reportedly not carrying proper identification proofs. They even told the bouncers that they were known stars from India, but the argument apparently cut no ice with the American bouncers.

So, while everyone else were partying hard inside, John and Katrina kaif found themselves bounced out of the nightclub. They even drove back to their hotel and returned with ID proofs. But it was too late by then and the party had already died down.

Katrina Kaif Replaces Aishwarya Rai

After dethroning Aishwarya Rai from the numero uno position in Bollywood, Katrina Kaif is fast emerging as a threat to her in the brand endorsement circuit as well. The hot actress recently replaced Aishwarya to become the new brand ambassador of a prominent diamond jewellery brand.

Known for her sensuality as well as her feminine charm, Katrina kaif reveals why she chose to endorse the brand. "Be it a skin, hair or a jewellery product, I am very selective about the brands I endorse. I undertake extensive research on the company and try to ensure that the brand delivers on its promises made to the user of the product," proclaims a beaming Katrina Kaif.

Looking graceful in a white gown and bedecked with exquisite diamond jewellery, Katrina also shed light on her much appreciated on-screen chemistry with Akshay Kumar. "He's really hard working and has boundless energy. These traits are really inspirational and on top of that he's an absolutely wonderful person to work with," says the Welcome girl.

Katrina Praises Akshay; Avoids a Question on Salman



Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif was happily promoting a jewelry brand, when she was asked about her on-screen pair with Akshay Kumar. Katrina left everything behind and gushed about Khiladi Akshay.

Katrina revealed how right from her first film with Akshay, she received a lot of compliments from people about her pairing with the Bollywood Khiladi. "Akshay is a wonderful person to work with and his energy and dedication is amazing. Therefore, he has been a huge inspiration for me," said Race star, adding she has done many films with Akki and shares a great rapport with him.

When asked for her take on her lookalike's promotion by her beau Salman Khan, however, Katrina brushed-off the question by just saying, "That is so sweet of him." Only Katrina knows the reason for her avoiding that question.
